Kathy McLaughlin – Independent Director
Kathy McLaughlin was introduced to Dr. Rob Rutledge in 2006, when the Healing and Cancer Foundation was an inspirational concept based on the success of Dr. Rob and Dr. Tim’s transformational work on the Skills for Healing weekends. A two-time survivor of cancer (Hodgkin’s Disease 1996 and 2005) and grateful recipient of two liver transplants in 2009, Kathy is no stranger to the medical system. She has spent several decades practicing self-empowered complementary healing options while pursuing a spiritual path to healing. In that first serendipitous meeting, Rob and Kathy were wearing the same unusual colour of green (the colour of love, compassion and growth). Dr. Rutledge and Dr. Walker’s inspired vision of harnessing the mind, body and spirit benefits of ancient wisdom to support people through the cancer journey immediately resonated with her. Kathy enthusiastically joined forces with Rob and Tim in 2008 as a member of the founding advisory board, then joined the board upon incorporation. She is honoured to serve HCF, and the cancer travelers we touch, as a continuing member of the Board of Directors.
Kathy is an independent management consultant specializing in strategic planning, leadership development, governance and board development. Before establishing her practice, Kathy spent 15 years in executive roles in the Canadian telecommunications sector and four years in executive search. She started her consulting firm in 2007. She has served on the boards of the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company and is currently a co-chair of InspireHealth of Vancouver.
